How EcoCrane works

The power unit consists of a small electric generator and a diesel engine, producing less than 200 hp. To minimize fuel consumption and emissions, the engine only runs while the batteries charge. And unlike most diesel-hydraulic or diesel-electric cranes, it reduces the RTG’s traditional genset by a factor of 4, while still providing enough power to operate at full capacity.

EcoCrane replaces your existing RTG’s large diesel engine with a minimal (~ 150 hp) diesel engine/generator combo. This solution reduces idle time and fuel costs by recovering all the regenerative energy that would otherwise be wasted. Plus, EcoCrane minimizes noise, maintenance costs, and up to 99% of emissions. Regenerative Charging

Our EcoCrane energy solution uses a lithium-ion battery pack to perform functions like container lifting and propulsion. Each time the operator lowers a load or presses the brakes, the Li-Ion system “recovers” built-up kinetic energy that would’ve typically been wasted. Recapturing and storing that energy inside the battery pack boosts efficiency, which translates into a substantial reduction in operating costs.
