The power unit consists of a small electric generator and diesel engine, less than 200 hp. The engine operates at its most efficient speed to minimize fuel consumption and emissions. The engine only runs while charging the batteries and only provides average power, not peak power as typical diesel-hydraulic or diesel-electric cranes require.
Instant Power – No warm-up, no start-up. Just instant, always available power.
No Lag Time – Blazing fast operations without typical generator/engine ramp up times.
Faster Operator Response – Electric operations lead to faster cycle times.
The EcoCrane solution uses energy stored in a lithium-ion battery pack to perform functions such as propulsion, or lifting the containerized freight. But as the load is lowered, or the crane brakes, the Li-Ion system will “recover” the built-up kinetic energy that would have previously been “wasted”. This energy is recaptured and stored in the battery pack. This efficient re-use of energy translates into a substantial reduction in operating costs for the terminal.
Noise is reduced when the diesel engine is not operating
